Description

Sheffield remained a major industrial city throughout the first half of the 20th century, but the downturn in world trade following the 1973 oil crisis, as well as a wide-reaching restructuring of steel production throughout the European Economic Community led to the closure of many of the steelworks and factories in the city from the early 1970s onward.

Walking around Sheffield today, you can still find the old, abandoned factories and many other derelict sites, laying dormant and boarded up whilst being enclosed within a city that is quickly remodelling and modernising.

My name is Matt and I’m a ‘solo’ Urban Explorer (meaning I visit abandoned places completely alone).

At the time of compiling this book, I have explored and documented over 500 abandoned locations throughout the UK and across the world, including Chernobyl.

In this A5 landscape book, I document 30 of the Steel City’s most derelict, disused, desolate, dilapidated, decaying & forgotten places.
